A.I.M.A.A IRELAND NATIONAL
CHAMPIONSHIPS review by Mr Miah A.I.M.A.A West Yorkshire

There is a downside to belonging to AIMAA: Everyone
is so friendly that you will spend a fortune on travelling to clubs
to which you have been invited to train!
Splitting the competition over two days proved to be a wise choice,
giving plenty of time to relax over the weekend. My students,
Instructors and myslef enjoyed greatly meeting up with old friends
and made many new ones, something that shows one the core values of
AIMAA – it really is a family.
The competition ran smoothly, thanks to Mr O'Connor and his
colleague's hard work, producing plenty of excellent bouts over the
whole weekend (as well as just enough work for the medics). AIMAA
Huddersfield managed 3 Gold medals, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze, thanks to
Mr Miah and the club's hard work and training. The 2010 Irish
Nationals has really inspired us on to train hard for the next
competition and we look forward to the next time we are together
with our AIMAA friends.
A.I.M.A.A WALES COLOUR BELT
TESTING REVIEW!
The
evening of September 13th was very important to AIMAA South
Wales. As head Instructor I knew this new school had to hit the
ground running in order to establish itself and the best way to
do this was to have it's founding members pass their first
grading decisively and be an inspiration to all those who join
our school from then on.
My students achieved this and
so much more to my delight. Seven fresh faced youngsters battled
nerves and the pressure of not only a grading environment but an
audience, to achieve their yellow belts (9th Kup).
As their Instructor I could
not have been more proud of them. I can teach people to kick,
punch and block but I cannot teach the greatest attribute that
my students displayed to me, the spectators and themselves that
evening, composure! Something the most experienced of us have
trouble achieving sometimes when faced with grading examiners
and all the pressure that goes with a grading. Truly I can learn
and be inspired by my own students.
Composure was the key to this
grading as the grading award was awarded to Hannah Colette for
outstanding composure throughout the grading and in everything
she did that evening from her press-ups to her sparring.
It gave me great pleasure to promote my seven wonders to 9th Kup
and I feel I now have seven new assistant instructors at
Shirenewton Tae Kwon Do
Mr
Patrick Baker Jones, 4th Degree, AIMAA South Wales.
Photographs of the students at AIMAA South Wales testing will be

WYVERN

AIMAA wish everyone involved in this worthy cause all the best in
